Solar & Battery Storage on the Gold Coast
Generate your own power. Store it. Use it day and night.
FitElec designs, supplies and installs solar power systems and battery storage for homes and businesses across the Gold Coast. Whether you want solar only, a battery added to existing solar, or a complete solar-plus-battery system from scratch, we size everything around your actual roof, power bills and usage patterns. Every job is carried out by a licensed electrician under Queensland Electrical Licence #1505994.
What we offer
- Residential solar systems — Grid-connected rooftop solar for Gold Coast homes, sized to match your energy usage and roof orientation. We supply, install and commission the full system.
- Commercial solar — Larger solar installations for commercial premises, including three-phase connections, string inverter and micro-inverter configurations.
- Home battery storage — Residential battery systems that store your solar excess and discharge it in the evening, reducing what you draw from the grid at peak tariff times.
- Complete solar & battery packages — New solar and battery installed together as an integrated system for maximum self-consumption from day one. One quote, one installation, one team.
- Adding battery to existing solar — Retrofitting a battery to your existing solar system. We check your inverter and switchboard compatibility before recommending the right product.
- Solar system upgrades — Expanding an existing system with additional panels or replacing an ageing inverter to restore performance and extend system life.
- Grid connection and metering — We handle the Energex grid connection paperwork and co-ordinate metering changes so your export tariff is set up correctly from day one.
- Switchboard modifications — Any switchboard changes needed to safely accommodate your solar or battery system are included in our scope of work with no hidden extras.

Frequently asked questions
- How many solar panels do I need for a Gold Coast home?
- It depends on your power usage and roof space. A typical Gold Coast home uses between 6.6 kW and 13 kW of solar. We look at your actual bills before recommending a size.
- Can I add battery storage to my existing solar system?
- Usually yes, but it depends on your inverter type. We check compatibility at the site visit before recommending any product.
- How long does installation take?
- Most residential solar installations are completed in one day. Adding a battery to existing solar typically takes half a day. Combined solar-and-battery systems may take two days. We confirm the timeline upfront.
- Will a battery keep my power on during a blackout?
- Only if your system is configured for backup or off-grid operation. Most standard grid-connect battery systems shut down during a grid outage for safety. Ask us about backup-capable configurations if this is a priority.
- Will FitElec help with rebates and paperwork?
- Yes. We handle the STC solar rebate assignment and the Energex connection application as part of your quote. We also stay across current battery incentive programs.
- What happens on cloudy days?
- Your solar system still generates power on overcast days, just at reduced output. You draw the shortfall from the grid as normal, or from your battery if you have one.
- How big a battery do I need?
- It depends on how much solar you generate and how much power you use in the evenings. We calculate this from your bills and inverter data at the site visit.
